This new build project was at the heart of the live CCN campus. Planning and communication was key to provide and maintain a safe working environment for all whilst maintaining an efficient place of works. The project consisted of extensive reduced level dig, CFA piling, steelframe, precast stairs and floors with structural toppings, SFS external walls with blockwork and clad envelope. The internal space was designed and constructed to give flexibility to meet the future needs of the college. Extensive engagement with the College was undertaken with lectures, site visits, placements and sponsorship all undertaken by MJS and the wider design and delivery team.
“Throughout the construction project, MJS demonstrated exceptional performance and professionalism.”
MJS projects have a longstanding relationship with the UEA Library team and understand the importance of considerate delivery in the key environment. This project involved the full refurbishment of the ground floor areas to modernize the space and to create new collaboration spaces to meet the changing needs of the library.
“The quality of the work was high, and certainly the finished floor has had a strongly positive influence on the student body and university as a whole. I would like to thank all the MJS staff for their hard work on this project, and Michael and Ben in particular for being excellent communicators and for being available to help answer questions as needed.”
The project involved the fast track refurbishment of the existing facility to form the new Advanced Construction and Engineering Centre to meet new curriculum needs. Due to the fast track nature of the project and the defined budget, the MJS team were brought in early to help shape design to meet the budget and to complete detailed investigations to allow accurate design and reduce risk. The MJS team had a T Level student for placement during this project with the student now being an MJS degree apprentice.
“I would like to thank Lee and the whole MJS team for their efforts on this project. It had an extremely tight programme and the complexities of an older building with limited record information. The MJS team went above and beyond in their role as contractor to help the client and designers resolve design issues, accommodate change to the brief, and deliver an outstanding facility on time and on budget.”

The collaborative and straightforward approach taken by David Henry and Mark Sayer has been central to the successful delivery of this fast track project. The speed of construction was not at the expense of quality – the end result is well finished, and it is clear that great care has been taken to achieve a high quality outcome.”
